February 3

Next update: February 16

I’m a day late with the update, but considering I’m over 3 weeks behind in answering e-mails, one day isn’t that bad.

I’ll blame my current laziness on the ridiculously cold weather here in Austin. It’s actually below freezing, which is just wrong on so many levels. My Canadian blood has thinned after a couple years here in Texas, leaving me vulnerable to these cold snaps. It got so bad I actually had to wear pants when I left the house.

Hmmm… that sounds bad. Let me clarify: I usually wear shorts, but I had to put on full length blue jeans. But I’m sure people in places buried under six feet of snow don’t want to hear me bitch and whine about a few sub-zero days. So on to the update.

First, I’m proud to say I’ve run my in-person record watching the Spurs to 6-0 as I saw them take down the Rockets last week. And I’ve got some other big news – looks like I’m going to be making my way down to PAX East this year (Boston, March 11-13). I’ve never been to the Penny Arcade Expo before, so I’m looking forward to it.

I’ll be there on behalf of BioWare to do some kind of talk or presentation, and I’ll probably try to squeeze in a couple book signing sessions while I’m there. I don’t have all the details yet, but I’ll be posting them in my next website update. Also, I’ll be posting any last minute changes to my schedule on my Twitter account as the weekend gets closer, so if you haven’t signed up now’s the time.

There’s also been some more buzzing about my not-so-secret project over on the official Star Wars forums. You can skim through the posts to get Sue Rostoni’s updates on the latest publishing info – it runs backwards (most recent posts on page one), so it’s a little hard to follow. To summarize, she confirmed I’m writing a novel tie-in with the Star Wars: The Old Republic game we’re working on at BioWare. She mentioned an October hardcover release. And that’s about it. The BIG news is still being kept under wraps for now… but the time of revelation is drawing near.

Let’s see, what else is going on? Oh, yeah – the Super Bowl is this Sunday! The Packers are slight favorites, but I could see this game going either way. And whenever I can’t make a firm pick, I always take the points. So, I guess I’ll be cheering for the Steelers.

Okay, I guess that’s it for this update. I promise I’ll get my caught up on my e-mails this weekend (it’s too cold to golf), so be patient.
