I’m preparing for my traditional Christmas trip to Canada. I can do without the cold, but it’s always good to see family and friends. Beyond that, not much going on right now. Guess there’s not\u00a0a lot for me to say since the last update, so I guess I’ll just\u00a0recap 2013.<\/p>\n

All in all, it was a pretty good year for me. Children of Fire<\/a>, the first book in my Chaos Born fantasy trilogy, was released. I also finished the manuscript for The Scorched Earth, book 2 in the series, and sent it off to my editors. And I\u00a0was lucky enough to meet lots of fans at various conventions across the country, and my Spurs came this close <\/em>to winning the championship. Overall, I’d give 2013 a solid B+.<\/p>\n

So what’s on tap for 2014?\u00a0Of course I have my typical resolutions that seem to come up every year: lose 25 pounds, knock 4 strokes off my handicap, watch the Spurs win it all and bring Vegas to its knees.<\/p>\n

There are also a few writing specific goals. My plan is to finish\u00a0the manuscript for book 3 in the Chaos Born series – Chaos Unleashed – by early spring. I’ve already started on it, so don’t worry – I won’t leave my readers hanging like other (more popular and more talented) writers.\u00a0I should be finishing up the manuscrip for Chaos Unleashed right around the same time the\u00a0paperback version of Children of Fire will be coming out.\u00a0A few months after that The Scorched Earth hits the shelves, picking up the tale where Children of Fire left off. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – I can’t wait for fans to get their hands on The Scorched Earth because there’s so much in there I know you’re going to love. (Is it arrogant for an author to think that about his or her own work? Maybe so, but it’s how I honestly feel.)<\/p>\n

I also hope to attend\u00a0numerous conventions to meet with the fans in 2014. In particular, I’m targeting SDCC <\/a>and NYCC<\/a> again, and I’m hoping to make it to London for WorldCon<\/a>.\u00a0Somewhere in there, I’m also going to have to figure out what my next project will be. I’ve got a few offers on the table, and a few things I’ve been kicking around in the back of my mind, but I don’t want to focus on that until Chaos Unleashed is finished. Once I figure it out (and the contracts are signed) I’ll be sure to let folks know.<\/p>\n
