Next update October 17

Last update before Chaos Unleashed comes out!

We’re getting close now – the final book of my Chaos Born trilogy is only days away from hitting the shelves! The official release date is October 13, but you can pre-order it now!

I know it’s been a long wait for fans of the series; the first book came out more than 2 years ago. But it’s been even longer for me – I’ve been working on the Chaos Born off and on for almost a decade. It’s been a long road to get here, and I can’t wait for readers to experience the thrilling conclusion.

If you’re a fan of my writing, you know I like to set things up and pay them off down the road, and you’ll see a lot of that in the final book. All the story lines come together in fun and sometimes unexpected ways, but I don’t want to say too much because of spoilers. I can promise an epic final battle, sworn enemies going head-to-head, new enemies, new allies, pirates… yes, pirates!

Okay, maybe I’ve already said to much. Let me just add this: Chaos Unleashed turned out to be everything I was hoping for, and I know fans are going to LOVE it! Each book on its own tells a solid story, but together the trilogy is much more than the sum of its parts. And if you’ve been waiting for the Chaos Born series to be finished before jumping in (hey, I do that, too!) now’s the perfect time!

But that’s not the only thing going on right now. I’ve also got a reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) happening on Thursday, October 8 over at r/fantasy. I did one of these a few years ago on one of the Star Wars sub-reddits, and it was a blast: check out my SW AMA here!

I’m also running a small contest along with the AMA – anyone who asks a question that I actually answer will have a chance to win a “Drew Karpyshyn Prize Pack” – signed copies of numerous books from across my career. Details of my AMA will go up in a post late Wednesday night, and I’ll be answering questions starting early Thursday evening (Texas time). And, just to get you in the Q&A mood, here’s an interview I recently did with Mary Fan on her blog Zigzag Timeline.

As for other news, you may remember from my last update that I’m back at BioWare, working on Star Wars: The Old Republic. A lot of folks are asking if I’m involved in the next content update, Knights of the Fallen Empire. Short answer: no. I just got there, so it’s going to be a while before anything I’m working on actually goes public. But KotFE is looking pretty sweet – if you haven’t seen it yet, check out the awesome Blur trailer.

Okay, that’s it for now. Next week – off to Vegas to celebrate the release of Chaos Unleashed! Wish me luck, and buy my book!
