Next update March 14

This is my first update since I publicly announced my retirement from BioWare. Honestly, I was a bit surprised by how much attention it got. I expected some message boards and forums to be buzzing with the news, but I didn’t think it would get scooped up by sites like Kotaku and Gamasutra. Nice to know I’ll be missed, though of course there were the usual internet trolls trying to turn this into something it’s not. I read all sorts of comments about why I “really” left, many of them proclaiming doom and gloom for BioWare. All of it is typical internet BS, though. As I said before, BioWare will do just fine without me.

As for focusing on my novels, things are going well. I’m in talks with an agent for Children of Fire, even as I churn away at the latest Star Wars book I’m not allowed to talk about… except now I *can* talk about it! (Oohh… can you feel the excitement?)

The book is called Star Wars: Annihilation, and there’s a brief plot synopsis on the Star Wars facebook page. We also have a publication date: November 13, 2012.

I only have one more bit of business for this update – something a little different for those of you in the Austin area who may share my love of golf. My wife is organizing a charity golf tournament to raise money for Lifelong Friends, a no-kill animal shelter she volunteers at. (Warning – clicking on the link may inspire you to donate or possibly adopt a lovable furry companion.)

The tournament is a four-person scramble, it’s for a great cause and we have all sorts of cool prizes. You can sign up with friends as a team, or you can sign up as a single and we’ll put you on a team.

I’m already booked for a team, but I’ll also be at the dinner and prize draws afterwards, so any golfers who want to come by and chat or get their books signed after the tournament are welcome to track me down.

Hope to see some of you there!
